Finding a Job- Stay Motivated!

The BJP government seems to be correct on one count--employment generation. Based on a report by State Bank of India (SBI) Ecoflash, India's unemployment rate had fallen from 9.5% in August 2016 to 4.8% in February 2017.

Looking at the initiatives of 'Make In India' and Skill Development, the positive trends in the employment numbers can be a good indication for the youth finding a job.

Online Search: The age of globalization opens a whole new world for the  employment opportunities. All the applicant has to do is to first register himself/herself on the job search engine site. The applicant has to add on resume details along with work and location preferences, educational qualification and job profile information.

There are hundreds of job sites available on the internet but only a few job search engines are reliable enough to use. Some of them are as follows:

  1. Indeed.com
  2. Careerbuilder.com
  3. Glassdoor.com
  4. Idealist.com
  5. Dice.com
  6. Linkedln.com
  7. LinkUp.com
  8. monster.com
  9. SimplyHired.com
  10. Naukri.com

Make sure not to limit your job search to one or two websites because each job website has a range of companies and vacancies. Try out a few sites so as to see which site works best for you!

Campus Placement: Students who are currently in their final year of graduation/ post-graduation can find jobs through campus placements. It is a recruitment process in which various companies will come to your college to hire the fresh graduates ready to enter the workforce. To apply, the students can contact the Placement Cell in their college or the person in charge of the Placement Committee. Find out which companies are coming to your college and apply to 4-5 companies of your preference. Each company has a different selection process but many rounds such as the Aptitude test, Personal Interview and Group discussion will be common to all.

Students can also apply off-campus to other preferred companies based on the job vacancies in those companies.

In the end, the key is patience. Don't be disheartened if you don't get in the very first time, try again. I hope that you find the right job!

' I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.'
